School House Rock
This is a drawing I made from my daughter Emily's favorite School House Rock "episode".
For those who didn't grow up in the 70s/80s, School House Rock was an educational cartoon series that ran on ABC. They ran in between the regular cartoons in place of a commercial. They taught kids about science, math, and history through catchy songs and images. They were kind of the first music videos.
A year or two ago I bought the DVD of all the School House Rock cartoons so my kids would have something educational (and fun) to watch on long trips. They liked it so much they started singing the songs around the house and asked me to draw pictures from their favorite "episodes".
Bonus points if you know what "episode" the picture above is from.

Chuck Amuck Part I
I received the Chuck Jones biography 'Chuck Amuck' for Christmas one year and it inspired a passion to draw. All these images are drawn from pictures in the book.

Lamont the Lonely Monster
When I was a kid a had a favorite 'lift the flap' book called Lamont the Lonely Monster. At one point I thought I'd make a follow on kids book if the original copyright had lapsed. Who knows, maybe I still will someday.
Comic Strip Doodle
I remember doing these doodles during an especially rough day in college. If I do my research I could figure out exactly when I did this as all the images came from a specific day's comic strips.

What's the point of this blog?
I've decided to use this blog as a place to share my drawings, doodles, and sketches.
I'll most likely start with my Illustration Friday drawings, but as time permits I'll add various things I've done in my spare time over the last 15+ years.
Comments and critiques are welcome.
